Anne Phelan

I am the founder and owner of Merrett Davies International. I have accumulated over 35 years of experience with both government and multinational businesses, allowing me to bring a wealth of international, multifunctional, cross-business knowledge and expertise to my clients.

I began my professional life as a 16-year old engineering apprentice at a Royal Navy submarine base in Scotland.

As the only girl amongst 200 boys, that early baptism of fire became a powerful foundation for me when I embarked on a professional career.

It opened my eyes. Not only to the kinds of challenges that we all face in the workplace, but also the challenges women uniquely face at work, at home, and in life as a whole.

Learning what it takes to succeed and how to push through challenges and failures were lessons that were impressed upon me quite rapidly, and the need for adaptability and an acceptance of change, while always keeping an eye on the ultimate prize, is a strategy that has worked for me and continues to pay off with my clients.

My journey from shipyard worker to engineering graduate, to senior international executive, to highly sought-after executive coach, can be summed up as a set of widely diverse experiences, each of which has taught me immensely valuable lessons along the way. Leveraging those lessons has enabled me to help other women to even greater levels of success and its those opportunities that bring me the greatest joy. I hope that if you are reading this you are ready to reach that same point as many clients have before you.

It’s time to take ownership. Stop drifting. Start paddling.
