Power Partners Dare Us to #BeBOLDForChange

In your life, who are the women who have championed you, supported you, encouraged you and told you the truth? The power of a woman by herself is astounding, but when partnered with other women, it is immeasurable. When working alone, we do what we know, and we do it well. However, there are limits, and sometimes we need a push in the right direction.

Luckily along the journey of life, our experiences dictate the kind of support we need to live the life we want. Have you had anyone ever push you to pull up your big girl pants, be your best self, or BE BOLD? WE all need a push from time to time from someone else, and that push can be powerful and change the rut we are stuck in or the paradigm to which we subscribe. That person is who I like to call a “Power Partner.”

Power Partners come in all shapes, sizes, personalities, and with different specialties. Depending on your goal, your Power Partner will help you achieve it. Here are some examples of various types to help us on the journey.

EXECUTIVE OR BUSINESS COACH

According to the International Coach Federation, “(Professional) Coaching generates learning and clarity for forward action with a commitment to measurable outcomes.” Reaping rewards such as gaining fresh perspectives on challenges or enhancing decision-making skills are just some of the benefits.

ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER

It is daunting to publicly announce or admit we need help. However, the typical start-stop-start-stuck method does not usually end in success. An accountability partner helps you get over your own brain block or negative thinking to push you through to the other side. This is especially effective when motivation and interest decrease and boredom sets in. Sometimes, I remind myself, do I want to reach the end result or do I want to play start-stop-start-stuck again?

MASTERMIND GROUP

Introduced 75 years ago, by Napoleon Hill’s book, Think and Grow Rich, mastermind groups have become popular because they can be extremely productive. When two or more people meet, they share ideas, strategies, lessons learned, challenges, advice with each other in a peer-to-peer format.

WOMEN’S NETWORKS

In both the entrepreneur and corporate settings, women’s networks, associations or professional industry groups are effective to share ideas and information. The entrepreneur crowd is also able to expand business opportunities.

TRAINING PARTNER

When looking to improve health goals, trainers at the gym can help get you to the goal with several types of benefits. Learning to enjoy the workout, reduce the risk of injury and decreased stress are significant physical benefits. The competitive edge shines through when you push yourself harder and to stop quitting. Personal benefits give you the edge to meet goals faster and break out of your rut.

It’s clear that women have been supporting women since the beginning of time. In 2016, Sheryl Sandberg, Founder of LeanIn.org, launched Together Women Can as a “public awareness campaign celebrating the power of women supporting each other and how to be allies for each other at work.”

As we celebrate International Women’s Month, it’s an excellent reminder that leaders around the world, in corporations, as entrepreneurs, and in communities are helping each other. Follow the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day by being bold and finding yourself a power partner to support you in fully delivering your most important professional or personal goals this year. #BeBoldForChange
