Book Review: "The Big Leap: Conquer your Hidden Fear and Take Life to the Next Level” By Gay Hendricks
This is a fascinating book that delves into the reasons behind our inability to be consistently successful in wealth, work, and love, i.e., for your wealth, work and love to always be great, not just okay.
Hendricks talks about our zones of competence, excellence, and genius. He suggests that we can all easily live in our zone of competence, and many may live in their zone of excellence, very few live in the zone of genius. Yet we all have the capacity to do just that if we can understand what’s holding us back and take action to shift our thinking. As he describes, “Each of us has an inner thermostat setting that determines how much love, success, and creativity we allow ourselves to enjoy. When we exceed our inner thermostat setting, we will often do something to sabotage ourselves, causing us to drop back into the old, familiar zone where we feel secure.”
Have you ever thought things are going too well, you’ve been feeling lucky recently, and you’re waiting for the other shoe to drop? That’s you hitting your inner thermostat setting and experiencing your “upper limit problem;” things feel almost too good. When that happens, inevitably the other shoe will drop, something will go wrong, you’ll come back to earth with a bump! I highly recommend you download a copy of Hendricks's book to learn how to shift your inner thermostat setting upwards and experience more of life in your zone of genius.
