It’s hard to believe that 2019 is coming to a close. As Christmas and the new year approach, we can’t help but look ahead with renewed enthusiasm for the year that’s coming and the goals we aspire to deliver. And yet, how many of us really look deeply at our current state and truly think about what needs to change?
With each transition on our life’s journey, we have goals to achieve. As time moves on, the weeks go by, and despite our best intentions, the goal slips out of our hands. As we let it go or as we persevere, we often wonder, “Why is this so difficult?”
People rarely do all that they know how to do. Almost everyone you know, including yourself, has a large gap between their knowledge and the action they take based on that knowledge. In other words, they have a “knowing-doing” gap.
We have two images of our self. One is the external image, which shows up in the way we walk, talk, dress etc. and the other is the internal image, how we see ourselves in our mind.
Fear can be extreme or it can be mild, but it usually prevents us from taking important steps to achieve positive results. Some examples include asking for a raise, asking someone out on a date, jumping out of an airplane, or speaking up in an important meeting.
What is the definition of negotiation? According to CollinsDictionary.com, a negotiation is “a formal discussion between people who have different aims or intentions during which they try to reach an agreement.” That doesn’t sound daunting or difficult, does it?
One of the key messages is about reminding yourself how to look at life from the inside out and not as we are conditioned in our modern world, to look at life only through external or outside influences and have those determine how we feel inside.
One of the first things I ask my coaching clients to do is to create a vision for their future life. What would they love to be, do, or have, if there were no constraints in the way?
Time. It seems to pass faster each year. However, each year gifts us with the same 8,760 hours. How productive have you been with your time so far in 2019? Did you accomplish many of your goals or resolutions yet?
The power of a woman by herself is astounding, but when partnered with other women, it is immeasurable.
There are 144 days left in 2019. Have you planned your vacation yet? How many PTO days do you have left for 2019
It’s summer, and a perfect day for the pool. EEK. But, it’s a workday, and you have an unending list. It becomes the all too familiar summer vs. work conundrum.
Mother’s Day is upon us. While reflecting on this month’s topic, I started thinking about different types of mothers and the role this annual celebratory day imparts on our lives
When was the last time you dipped your toes in the sand, skied the slopes, unplugged from technology and spent quality time with those you love? Decades ago, taking a vacation once or twice a year was expected. In today’s world, for too many, it doesn’t even make the list of annual to-dos.
The common form of ‘spring-cleaning’ tends to center around straightening the house, but what about us? Have you ever considered renewing yourself of the yuck in your life? Maybe we need to rid ourselves of negative thoughts, behaviors or environments in our personal or professional life.
After establishing a mentor relationship, the next step is to build a sponsor relationship with a powerful partner within the organization. The difference is distinct.
I needed a reason bigger than me to force me to get over myself and to get out there, meeting people and marketing my offer, and I found my reason in the Museum program.
Passion, education, ambition, goals, achievements, promotions, and development are all elements of the paths we take to achieve our dreams in life, career, and family. Those achievements do not come without challenges, especially for women.
When was the last time you stepped back and thought about looking at things differently and changing something in your life? How often have you tried to change something and given up because it’s just too hard?
Most people have a never-ending “to-do” list and as things get scratched off, more things get added. As we get towards the end of the year our natural tendency is to look ahead to the next one, to 2018, and to start developing goals and plans for the future, to start adding even more to your “to do” list.
Consider that we attract what we envision, creating a mental picture, seeing the way forward as if it’s already in place. Without that picture of the future, we drift and meander through life and we don’t see opportunities that pass right in front of us.
It’s August 1st, the sun is out, the days are still long, and sub-zero temperatures seem like just a bad dream now. We’re well and truly into the 2nd half of 2017 and it’s time to take stock of what has been and what is still to come.
My go-to airline here in the US has a slogan “Something Special in the Air” but is it really; is it really special? Most of my trips over the past weeks would say it was okay, nothing to write home about though, until my last trip to Miami.
I was trying to logically justify why it no longer made good sense to attend the conference. I came up with all sorts of reasons why the initial “good” idea was now clearly a “bad” idea. At this point, my commitment was starting to ebb away and this is when it becomes very easy to back down or run away.
How many of you feel like that hummingbird, feeling like you can see a way forward but for all the effort you put in you don’t seem to be getting anywhere?
Life these days, more than ever, seems to be one of constant change and we all experience this roller coaster to a greater or lesser extent. But, what differentiates truly successful people from those who just wish they were, is that they make a decision to persevere towards their goal while others lose commitment altogether and give up because what’s required to succeed just seems too arduous.
Along with the new year, comes renewed energy and desire to improve from the year that just ended. Some of us have strong desires to achieve lofty goals.
